There’s no better feeling than coming home to a clean house… but finding the motivation to get around to doing the actual cleaning isn’t always easy! If you’re preparing for your annual spring cleaning, creating a checklist of tasks can help make things move along more quickly, and help guide you plan out your tasks for the day. We’ve put together this handy checklist of spring cleaning tasks to help you stay organized.

(Try breaking up your spring cleaning into a multiple day endeavor, rather than trying to get everything done all in the same day!)

1. Bedroom Cleaning Checklist

  • Flip or rotate the mattress
  • Change the bedding (sheets, pillowcases, blankets/duvet covers)
  • Go through the closet and set aside any clothes you don’t wear (rather than throwing them out, donate them to a local shelter or thrift shop!)

2. Bathroom Cleaning Checklist

  • Empty the bathroom trash, and clean the trashcan out before replacing the bag
  • Wash any decorative hand towels (and regular towels, too!)
  • Wash bathmats
  • Scrub down the shower door, or replace the shower liner
  • Organize the cupboards (throw out any old products that you no longer use, or anything that’s expired)
  • If there are old medications that need disposed of, do so responsibly!

3. Kitchen Cleaning Checklist

  • Go through the fridge and throw out anything that’s past its due date (like old condiments, salad dressings, or jars that have been pushed to the back!)
  • Empty the crisper drawers and give them a thorough washing in the sink, or the dishwasher if they’re dishwasher safe
  • Sweep and mop behind and underneath all of the appliances
  • Give the backsplashes a good scrub down
  • Clean off the oven hood

4. General Household Cleaning Checklist

  • Dust all of the blinds
  • Take rugs outside and shake them out
  • Wash your windows and windowsills (check out our guide on how to properly clean window wells here!)
  • Clean the baseboards around the house
  • Give the ceiling fans and floor fans a thorough dusting (its usually recommended NOT to use a vacuum or compressor on floor fans to avoid damaging them)
  • Replace air filters
  • Dust any shelves around the house, decor, and picture frames
